We All Could Use a Little Levity: 5 of Our Favorite Humorous Ads

Last week, a coworker of ours purchased an air fryer. On his Instagram story, he initially poked fun at how obsessed everyone is with this seemingly average household product; however, he quickly changed his tone after whipping up a batch of french fries. The following slides of his Instagram story were laugh-out-loud, can’t-catch-your-breath funny as he attributed the air fryer to changing his life in every way. The air fryer folded his laundry. The air fryer left him a love note. The air fryer had an ice-cold Bud Light waiting for him.

After wiping the tears from my eyes, I immediately thought that this should be an air fryer ad. I’ve never wanted to purchase a product more than I did at that moment, not to mention that I also went on to share my coworker’s story with all of my friends. It then occurred to me, what happened to humor in advertising?

Do you remember the days when you would laugh out loud at a Doritos commercial or snicker at Jake from State Farm? Lately, it seems that the weight of the outside world has encroached on, well, everything. We are surrounded by doom & gloom (for good reason), but nonetheless, a little humor would go a long way. So, to add some levity to your day, let’s flash back to a few of our favorite humorous ads from the last decade:
