Georgia Vernal Reflects on her Time at Indie

As a college senior, I’ve realized over the past few years that summers are not as luxurious as they once were. What was once a few months full of sleeping in, long days at the pool, and hours to kill as the days passed by, are now a few months focused on gaining as much experience and knowledge as possible through internships and jobs.

My name is Georgia Vernal and I have had the pleasure of being the summer intern for Indie Consulting. During the past couple of months I have been able to work with a very talented team based all over the USA. Listening to their project updates, strategies on how to approach a client, and how they collaborate as a remote team has taught me a lot about what’s key in driving success.

While finding this internship was not a walk in the park due to the recent pandemic and overwhelming job landscape, after months of searching, I learned the importance of putting yourself out there. Things need to be chased after, as they rarely will be chasing after you. I’ve gained so much knowledge and have made great connections during my time working at Indie. Through putting myself out there, I was able to get an amazing internship with such an outstanding company.

For the past three months, I have helped out with our Linkedin, the blog, and different projects for the team. Working for Indie has taught me a lot. Molly has created a great team to build a very successful consulting agency. Indie has only been around for three years and has been working with some really wonderful brands in the food and beverage space. Watching Molly do what she loves has inspired me to never give up, and to always remind myself that no dream is too big. Molly is a great girl boss to learn from.

Here are my top tips for college kids, and anyone looking for jobs/internships:

  1. Apply to as many as possible

  2. Don’t be afraid to shoot your shot

  3. Keep an open mind
